October Meeting Minutes
The October meeting started off with President Nathan Nickerson conducting a teach-in, a card prediction that involved an audience member who unexpectedly performed the magic. The business meeting was called to order, we welcomed our guests, Wes Treadway and his son, Ted Petroskie and Todd Roberts. Thanks for attending and we will see you back soon. We plan to move our Public Show to October in 2012, to help celebrate National Magic Week this will help with conflicts that arise from having the show in November. Member Gene Burrell’s wife is not well. We hope she has a speedy recovery. Our new Web site/ Blog is working well, we have had a lot of activity in a very short time. Other business included our Club picnic, Public show, Awards banquet, December’s Meeting, and the Christmas Kids Show. We then played a game of trivia for raffle tickets, the subject this month was Harry Houdini.
The Gulf Coast Magicians Guild then held their yearly Election of Officers. This year’s line up:

Vice President – Beau Broomall

Sergeant At Arms – Harley Day

Website – Nathan Nickerson
Scribe – Bill Metsch
After a short break we raffled off over 30 items. Four Youth members were picked to play a round of the Alphabet game. This will never get old, it is hysterical. The theme for October was Spooky Magic. Al Grimm started it off with a mental effect using randomly chosen numbers that added up to his prediction. Nathan Nickerson entertained us with a book test using two volunteers, two words, and two books. Wow it was a little spooky. Beau Broomall showed us what a Vampire card will do to a deck of cards (sucks the blood right out of them) and then showed us how to catch some spirits in a handkerchief. Guest Ted Petroskie performed a mental card affect where three volunteers chose three random cards and then told us what each card was. Then Jeff Soble entertained us with what he called the We Wizard Detector where the volunteer finds his own card behind his back! Many thanks to Betty Broomall for the wonderful snack table, to all that brought the goodies, and to Beau Broomall for the decorations that made it feel more like Halloween. Thanks to Isaac Brady for keeping up with the books and the raffle ticket sales. A Special Thanks to member Dave Kloman for donating so many raffle items all year, I cannot keep up with all of his donations.
Thanks for your support!
Bill Metsch
